Benchmark Fantasy is a free fantasy game played with real stock prices, operated by RAD Dad Tech LLC (“we”, “us”). It is bragging rights only: no entry fees, no prizes and no real trading. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

  • From Google when you sign in: your name, email address and profile picture. Google never shares your password with us.
  • What you do in the game: your team name and colour, the leagues you create or join, your draft picks, weekly lineups and captains, and the chat messages, GIFs, reactions, polls and poll votes you post.
  • Notifications, if you turn them on: your browser's push subscription (an address and keys your browser creates for us, plus its browser name) and which notifications you chose.
  • If you join the waitlist: the email address you type, the time you joined and which page the form was on (the home page or the sign-in page). Nothing else is stored with it: no name, no account, no IP address and no browser details. See The waitlist.
  • Basic technical logs: our hosting provider records requests (such as IP address, browser and time) to keep the service running and secure.
  • Usage analytics: we use Google Analytics to see which pages people visit and roughly where they come from, using cookies. It tells us how the site is used, not who you are. Private links (shared results, league invites and team-handoff links) are recorded without their codes.

Cookies and local storage

We use cookies that keep you signed in and remember which of your leagues is open, local storage for small preferences such as the light or dark theme, and Google Analytics cookies. The sign-in cookies are required for the app to work.

How we use it

  • To run the game: your team, your leagues, scores, standings and chat.
  • To show your team to the people in your leagues.
  • To send the notifications you turned on.
  • If you join the waitlist: to send you one email when Benchmark Fantasy opens to the public, and for nothing else.
  • To understand how the site is used and make it better.
  • To keep the service secure and fix problems.

We do not sell your personal information, we do not show ads, and we do not share your information with anyone for advertising.

Who can see what

  • People in your leagues see your name, profile picture, team, draft picks, lineups, your chat messages and how you voted in chat polls.
  • If you share a result, anyone with that link can see that result card. Share links are kept out of search engines.

Services we use

  • Vercel, to host the site.
  • Supabase, for our database and sign-in.
  • Google, for sign-in and for analytics.
  • Your browser's push service (for example Apple, Google or Mozilla), to deliver notifications you turned on.
  • GIPHY and Tenor, for GIF search in chat. The GIFs you pick load from their servers.
  • Market data providers, for stock prices and news. We send them no personal information.

Your choices

  • Turn notifications off at any time in Notifications (in the account menu) or in your browser.
  • Clear cookies and site data in your browser settings.
  • Come off the waitlist at any time: email us at hello@benchmarkfantasy.com, from the address you used or naming it, and we remove it promptly. We cannot confirm that an address belongs to whoever typed it, so if someone signed you up, that is all it takes.
  • Opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on.
  • Delete your account at any time in Settings (in the account menu). That removes your profile, notification settings, chat messages, reactions, polls and poll votes, any league you were the only person in, and your sign-in record with our sign-in provider. In leagues with other players your team stays in the standings as “Former player”, without your name or picture. If anything is left, email us (see Contact).

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is active, and delete it when you delete your account. A league's commissioner can delete a league, which removes that league's data.

Waitlist addresses are kept only until the one announcement has been sent, then deleted, and in any case no later than March 31, 2027, whether or not Benchmark Fantasy has opened by then.

The waitlist

While Benchmark Fantasy is in a private beta, a form on the home page and on the sign-in page lets you leave your email address to hear when it opens. If you use it, we store the address, the time and the page you were on, and nothing else: no name, no account, no IP address and no browser details. Like any visit to the site, sending the form shows up in our hosting provider's technical logs (described above); the address travels in the request itself, never in a page address, so it is not in the page addresses those logs or analytics record.

  • Why: to send you one email when Benchmark Fantasy opens to the public. That is the only email we will send to the list, and we never share it or sell it. We promise no opening date, and if it does not open we send nothing.
  • How long: we delete the whole list right after that announcement, and no later than March 31, 2027, whether or not the game has opened. Our private nightly backups of the database keep copies for 14 days after a deletion.
  • Removal: email us at hello@benchmarkfantasy.com, from the address you used or naming it, and we remove it promptly.
  • No confirmation: we do not send a confirmation email, so we cannot check that an address belongs to the person who typed it. If an address was entered for you, ask us to remove it and we will.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics is told that the form was used, and on which page, never the address.

Children

Benchmark Fantasy is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Players aged 13 to 17 need a parent or guardian's permission. If you think a child under 13 has signed up, contact us and we will delete the account.

Security

Connections to the site are encrypted, and access to our database is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. The Terms cover using the game itself.
