Fantasy stocks,
with your crew.
Benchmark Fantasy is a fantasy league for the stock market. Draft real S&P 500 stocks, set your weekly lineup and captain, and each week play two games — beat your rival and beat the S&P 500.
Private beta: new sign-ups are closed for now.
Open snake draft, exclusive ownership
Draft 7 real S&P 500 stocks across five sector positions — take the best you believe in, any sector, any round. Once a ticker's gone in your league, it's gone.
Weekly lineup + captain
Start 5 of your 7 each week — one per sector + a FLEX — and name a captain (2×). Forward-looking, locked before Monday's open. No hindsight.
Two games every week
Beat your head-to-head rival AND beat the S&P 500. Each regular week is worth two wins — out-pick your friends and the market.
Modes & playoffs
Monthly, Classic, or Battle Royale. Round-robin into a reseeding bracket, or a field-scored sprint. One champion. Bragging rights only.
Questions, answered
Is Benchmark Fantasy free?
Yes. It's a free game for bragging rights only: no entry fees, no prizes, and no real money or real trades, ever.
How does it work?
Your league drafts real S&P 500 stocks, seven per team, and nobody else in the league can own yours. Each week you start five of them, one per sector plus a flex, and name a captain whose return counts double. Your score is your starters' Friday-to-Friday return.
Read the full rules →What are the two games every week?
In the regular season you play a friend head-to-head and the S&P 500 at the same time. Beat your opponent for one win and beat the index for another, so a week ends 2-0, 1-1 or 0-2.
Which stocks can I draft?
About 500 single-company stocks from the S&P 500, grouped into five sector positions. No funds or ETFs. The draft is an open snake draft: take the best stock you believe in, from any sector, in any round.
When do lineups lock?
Before the market opens on Monday at 9:30 ET, or on Tuesday when Monday is a market holiday. Miss it and last week's lineup plays again. You can never change a lineup after the week starts.
When do scores update and results post?
Scores use each day's closing prices, so they update each morning Tuesday through Saturday, and Monday's moves show up Tuesday. Scores never move during the trading day. The week ends at Friday's close and results usually post overnight Friday night, by Saturday morning at the latest, or Sunday morning if closing prices are late. A Monday market holiday moves the lock to Tuesday; a Friday holiday ends the week at Thursday's close.
When things happen →Do I need to know about investing?
No. Pick companies you know, check each stock's card in your league, and learn as the season goes. Nothing here is investment advice.
Plain-English explainers →How many people do I need?
Just you to start. A league has 8 teams by default, and any seats your friends don't take are filled with bots. Seasons run Monthly (4 weeks plus playoffs), Classic (13 weeks plus playoffs) or Battle Royale.
